Georgia Mom’s Cause of Death Revealed, Two Years After Son’s Fatal Shooting
The Georgian government has released the cause of death of a woman whose son and brother had both been killed by guns lately.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office said that Chanell Crosby, 35, died from a gunshot wound to the head. They also said that she was killed.
People got a copy of the medical examiner’s report, which said that her body was showing signs of decomposition when it was found.
Crosby’s family reported her missing on July 14. The Atlanta Police Department said in a statement after her death that she had been reported missing.
WSB TV reported at the time that she was last seen leaving for a trip to Macon, Georgia, with her boyfriend.
Atlanta, Georgia police said they found her “not alert, conscious, or breathing” on July 19 after getting a report of someone who wasn’t responding. At the scene, she was declared dead.
At the time of her death, Crosby was trying to find out what happened to her 13-year-old son Jamiren Crosby, who was shot and killed just minutes from his home in Lithonia, Ga., as 11 Alive News reported.
In April of that year, Chanell’s brother was found shot and dead in an Atlanta apartment complex. His family told 11 Alive that he had won $4,000 on a slot machine.
Chanell told WSB-TV in June 2023 that after these terrible killings, she had started a foundation in their name that was “focused on gun violence, police brutality, and community service.”
“We painted shelters and gave money to women’s and children’s shelters,” she told the outlet about the work of the group.
As of the time Chanell died, no one had been caught killing Jamiren. As of the time this report was written, the Atlanta Police Department’s website did not show any new details about the investigation into Chanell’s death.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Chanell’s family pay for her funeral and get the things her three children need.
