Georgia School Shooting Teen Suspect’s Troubled Home Life Unveiled Amid Mother’s Criminal Record
New information about the 14-year-old Georgia high school student’s mother’s crime record shows that things were rough at home.
Fox News Digital looked at police and court records and found that the teen’s mother, 43-year-old Marcee Anne Gray, had a long list of crimes, including drug use and damage to property.
Teenage suspect shot and killed two teachers and two students at Apalachee High School. He or she came from a home where the parents were separated. The 14-year-old lived with his dad, Colin Gray, while his mom, Marcee Gray, took care of their two younger brothers.
During the month of November 2023, Marcee Gray was caught with drugs and scratch marks on the side of her husband’s truck.
The arrest order says Gray had a glass jar with methamphetamine in it, a “baggie” with fentanyl in it, another “baggie” with muscle relaxants in it, and a glass pipe that was “used for the ingestion of narcotics.”
The order says that she hid the fact that it was her Nissan Rogue by putting a tag on a Nissan Kick.
Marcee Gray was charged with and pleaded guilty to three counts of malicious damage to property in the second degree, criminal trespass, and family abuse. The charges were brought against her in December 2023.
Marcee Gray was charged under Georgia’s First Offender Act, which lets certain offenders plead guilty without being found guilty. That’s because of the state’s First Offender Act, Gray only had to serve the first 46 days of her 5-year term in jail.
She was on probation for the rest of her term.
Documents show that Gray was not allowed to talk to her husband, Colin Gray, directly during her probation, unless it was through a third party and only about their children.
The 43-year-old man was also told to stay away from drugs and booze and take part in a program to help stop family violence.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution said that the mother of the teen gun suspect had a long list of DUIs.
In 2014, Gray was charged with a misdemeanor driving offense in Forsyth County and with speeding in Barrow County. The news source says she was also charged in 2008 for a crime she committed in 2007, which included driving while drunk.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution got court records that show she took a plea deal for the driving violations and was fined $600 and told to do 40 hours of community service.
Police in Georgia (GBI) say that the teen suspect’s father, Colin, was caught on Wednesday and charged with two counts of second-degree murder, four counts of involuntary manslaughter, and eight counts of cruelty to children.
Investigators haven’t said much about the father’s alleged role in the killing, but they have said in the past that the parents of the teen were helping the police.
In December, the father and son will do better at their first meeting. For the high school killing, the mother has not been charged.
