A total of 929 employees are being laid off including 690 at the distribution center, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act notice.

New technology allows Kohl’s to fulfill orders without San Bernardino facility
Kohl’s said the San Bernardino facility has been in operation for Kohl’s since 2010. It is one of 15 e-commerce fulfillment centers (EFC) and distribution centers in Kohl’s supply chain network across the country.
“In recent years, Kohl’s has increased efficiencies with new technology capabilities at newer EFC facilities and has expanded the company’s ability to fulfill customer orders from store locations, allowing the company to maintain its ability to fulfill orders without the San Bernardino facility,” said a statement in the news release.
In addition, Kohl’s announced plans to close 27 of its more than 1,150 locations nationwide.
