Gov. Beshear Offers $8.5 Million to Improve Communities
FRANKFORT, Ky. – Governor Andy Beshear said that $8.5 million will be going to twelve projects across Kentucky to help make community buildings better at the weekly Team Kentucky update.
The city of Wayland will help pay for an addition to the Wayland Gymnasium on King Kelly Coleman Highway in Wayland with $750,000. There will be two more floors added, along with a walking track, a lift, and entrances and bathrooms that are easy for people with disabilities to use.
The city of Corbin will spend $351,000 to help fix up the kitchen at the Barbourville Street Senior Center. This building, which serves 80 meals a day, needed to be fixed up.
Gov. Beshear said, “When we invest in our communities, we help make our families’ lives better and support economic growth and new jobs.”
Kentucky’s Community Development Block Grant – Community Projects funding has given out more than $29 million since 2020. This money has been used to improve a number of community centers across the state.
