‘Heterosexual Awesomeness Month’ Was Declared by an Idaho Bar, Which Went Viral

People all over the world are talking about the bar in Eagle, Idaho that said it would be marking “Heterosexual Awesomeness Month” in June.

On Wednesday, The Old State Saloon announced that it would be celebrating straight people with savings and free beer for couples and men. This was meant to be a bit of a counterpoint to June being LGBT Pride month.

“June will be the first Heterosexual Awesomeness Month on OSS! Join us all month to honor straight people, because we wouldn’t be here without them! Every Monday will be Hetero Male Monday, and any straight man who dresses like a straight man will get a free draft beer. A Facebook post said, “Every Wednesday is Heterosexual Couples Day, and all heterosexual couples will get 15% off their bill.”

The bar also asked for a judge “to decide if men’s chosen clothing is officially heterosexual” in the comments. The pay was $15 an hour, and there was free beer.

It was later shown in posts that the bar was getting bad feedback about the news, especially because it was meant to be offensive to LGBTQ people during “Pride Month.”

“People who are against Heterosexual Awesomeness Month seem to have a hard time leaving comments without swearing, using the Lord’s name in a bad way, etc.” Comment something smart and stay. If you swear, you will be kicked out. Thanks. “We’ve already banned about 25,” one of the bar’s comments said, days after the post.

The Old State Saloon said again on Friday that it would go ahead with its plans. They also announced a “Her Hetero Happy Hour” for women and “Hetero Awesomeness T-shirts.”

“We’ve heard that Heterosexual Awesomeness Month makes a lot of people mad! Know this: 1) We love meeting LGBTQ+ people. 2) We’re not going to change our minds and give in to the group of people who are replying with hate. 3) “Everyone is welcome to join us in June to celebrate being straight!” the bar said.

Mark Fitzpatrick, owner of the Old State Saloon, told Fox News Digital, “It’s my dream to build a community event center on some nearby land I own to help support conservative ideas.” Extreme LGBTQ+ people have said so many really bad things about us. Some of the comments are terrible. But there has also been a lot of help!”

Fitzpatrick said on his Zillow page that he was a “family man,” a “Christian,” and a “conservative” who supported the Constitution. There were also ads on the Old Stage Saloon’s Facebook page for Christians, like “Open Carry Coffee” and “Christian Singles Mingle.”

In the end, Fitzpatrick replied to what he saw as an attack article written about him by the Idaho Statesman earlier that month.

“Because most people in Idaho will know what this dog whistle is. Old State Saloon encourages people to be intolerant. The word “trans” is added to explicit racism. The piece said, “This marketing stunt is an insecure response to LGBTQ+ Pride Month, which is held every June to celebrate the pride of bisexual, gay, lesbian, and transgender people.”

Fitzpatrick posted on the Old State Saloon Facebook page, “The Idaho Statesman writes a bad article about me and the Old State Saloon, but they’re too scared to call me for a quote.” Michael Deeds is a pretty good writer. It’s too bad that a lot of it is so wrong. Viewers are asked to use their own judgment.

“For the record, I love all kinds of people, including LGBTQ+ people,” he said. I wish they all knew that Jesus saved them. Let’s start Heterosexual Awesomeness Month now!”
