I-20 Closed After Fatal Drunk Driving Crash: Four Killed, Three Injured
DALLAS — Four people were killed and three people were injured after an intoxicated driver hit them on Interstate 20, police said.
Eastbound lanes of Interstate 20 were closed Wednesday morning as officials responded to the fatal crash, according to TxDOT.
A collision occurred around 1:44 a.m. Jan 1 in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 20 at FM 740, according to a press release from Mesquite police.
The victims were attempting to change a tire on the outside shoulder when an intoxicated driver hit them at a high rate of speed, police said. The driver was arrested and charged with four counts of intoxication manslaughter, police said.
Police did not immediately release the name of the suspect or victims. All lanes remained closed around 6:30 a.m., according to TxDOT.
