Illinois Man Arrested on Narcotics Charges After Erratic Driving, Sheriff Reports in Calhoun County
MARENGO TOWNSHIP, Michigan — According to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrested a 25-year-old Illinois man on Saturday after discovering illegal narcotics during a traffic stop for erratic driving.
Authorities responded to a report of an erratic driver on westbound I-94 at Partello Road in Marengo Township around 11:35 p.m., according to the sheriff’s office.
According to authorities, a deputy with a K-9 unit pulled over the suspect, who did not stop when emergency lights were turned on, after noticing his erratic driving and repeated traffic violations.
The sheriff’s office stated that a search of the vehicle was conducted after the K-9 alerted the deputy to the narcotics, which appeared to be individually packaged packets of fentanyl and heroin.
The suspect was subsequently detained and brought to the Calhoun County Jail for possessing narcotics with intent to distribute and failing to stop for a police signal, according to authorities.
