CNS News–With less than three weeks remaining, millions of beneficiaries are eagerly anticipating the arrival of March’s Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payment. Scheduled to be distributed on March 1, this payment, valued at up to $943 for individual filers, represents a crucial lifeline for many recipients.
This forthcoming payment marks the second installment for 2024, following a unique circumstance in January where no payments were issued due to a quirk in the Social Security Administration’s calendar. The maximum amount an individual can receive through the SSI program depends on their filing status.
There are three categories for beneficiaries to select individual, joint, or essential person. The latter designation applies to those who provide necessary care to individuals receiving SSI payments and reside with them. According to the SSA, individual filers may receive up to $943 per month, eligible couples up to $1,415, and essential persons up to $472 each month.

These amounts represent a 3.2% increase from 2023, attributed to inflation adjustments. It’s important to note that not every recipient will receive the maximum payment. The SSA provides a personalized estimate through its calculator tool to help filers determine their expected payment.
To qualify for SSI, individuals must meet specific criteria, including having limited income being totally or partially blind, or having physical or mental conditions that significantly limit daily activities for at least 12 months. The SSI program supplements regular Social Security benefits, offering monthly support to adults and children with blindness, disabilities, and limited income.
