SHELDON, Ill. – The Indiana Newton County Sheriff’s Office said that Corporal Brandon Schreiber, a cop who was shot earlier this month, will not make it.

Schreiber was shot on September 1 in Sheldon, Illinois, while working for the Iroquois County Sheriff’s Office.

A statement made on Tuesday confirmed the sad news. Sheriff S.L. Cothran said he was sorry about what had happened.

“We have been told that he will not survive his injuries, even though his medical team has done so much to help him.” Staff Sergeant Schreiber is an organ donor. It was said in the statement, “His sacrifice will give him the chance to help many other people.”

The investigation has been taken over by the Illinois State Police. More information about the killing will be made public at a later time.
