Israeli special forces conducted a raid on Nasser Hospital in Gaza, the largest operational hospital in the region, following a prolonged siege on the facility.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported that they apprehended several individuals during the Thursday raid, citing intelligence obtained in part from recently released hostages.

Israel asserted that it had reason to believe that the bodies of deceased hostages were being held within the hospital premises.

Hamas, however, refuted these allegations, stating that the group had no involvement at the hospital.

Early on Thursday, Israeli forces launched shelling attacks on the hospital, resulting in casualties and injuries to an unspecified number of individuals, according to Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), also known as Doctors Without Borders.

Following the assault, one MSF staff member remains unaccounted for. MSF personnel were compelled to evacuate the hospital through an Israeli military checkpoint, with one employee reportedly detained during the process.

Subsequent reports emerged from doctors and medical officials in southern Gaza, alleging that Israeli snipers had fatally shot several individuals attempting to flee Nasser Hospital.

A trauma surgeon at the hospital, who witnessed the shootings, stated that at least two people were killed by snipers on Tuesday, with additional individuals sustaining gunshot wounds.

Following the evacuation of hundreds of civilians from the hospital, which had served as a shelter, Israeli forces conducted a raid.

Video footage captured on Tuesday depicted scenes of smoke rising from the hospital’s vicinity, an Israeli bulldozer demolishing a perimeter wall, and an armored vehicle entering the hospital premises, accompanied by the sound of gunfire.

According to a trauma surgeon at the hospital, who opted to remain anonymous for security reasons, at least eight individuals attempting to flee encountered gunfire on Tuesday.

Among the wounded, as reported by the surgeon, was a 16-year-old boy who sustained four gunshot wounds at the hospital gate.

In a series of voice messages, the surgeon detailed the relentless bombardment endured by medical teams at the hospital over at least three days.

This testimony was conveyed by the surgeon’s colleague.
