Disability benefits will first arrive for Supplemental Security Income recipients on December 31, 2024. If you qualify for both SSDI and SSI, this will be your first payment with the 2025 COLA increase right before New Year’s Day. The first Social Security Disability Insurance payment will be issued on January 3, 2025.

Only two completely different groups of recipients can get this monthly payment on the third. You can either qualify for being on benefits since before May 1997 or you can be eligible if you are collecting Supplemental Security Income and Social Security Disability Insurance at the same time. If you don’t, here are the other possible paydays.
