Kamala Harris is Running for President With the Support of Georgia’s Former Republican Lt. Gov
IN ATLANTA — If you’ve been following former Georgia Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan’s political career, it shouldn’t be surprising that he is supporting Vice President Kamala Harris for President.
Duncan, who has been very critical of former President Donald Trump, wrote on X (which used to be called Twitter), “I’m committed to beating Donald Trump.”
“The Democratic Party is the only thing left for me to use to do that.” She said, “Count me in if I have to vote for, speak for, or support Kamala Harris.”
Duncan also backed Biden in May.
Duncan said, “If Donald Trump wins the hearts and minds of most of the 10% in the middle and Kamala Harris doesn’t, he will be the next president.” He said, “Then we have real problems to deal with as Republicans,” on the Politically Georgia show from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
New polls from across Georgia show that Trump and Harris are pretty evenly matched in the race for the Peach State.
DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond, who has been in politics for a long time, told Channel 2’s Richard Elliot that he thinks Harris will win if a lot of people vote.
“Get rid of the base, talk to independents, and win those five or six states that will decide the election in the end.” You make the base, which you and I both know. In the end, Thurmond said, the tone of the race will rest on the independents and moderates on both sides.
Josh McKoon, Chair of the Georgia GOP, also said that getting people to vote was very important.
“The ground game is very important in an election that is going to be close and competitive.” “The party with more motivated voters who show up early will win Georgia,” McKoon said. “In late July, I’m happy with how things are.”
