Kentucky Gov. Beshear Unveils New Statewide Glass Recycling Initiative
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Governor Andy Beshear has announced that Kentucky’s first program to recycle glass will begin.
A news release says that Governor Beshear and other local politicians and leaders met in Louisville on Wednesday to announce the start of the program. Leaders from project partners O-I Glass Inc., Workwell Industries, and several Kentucky wineries were among the people who showed up.
Up to 10 full-time jobs will be created in sorting, machine operation, and material handling as a result of the $350,000 glass processing project. In its first year, the project will also turn over 1,200 tons of used glass packing into new bottles.
Gov. Beshear said, “It is an honor to be here today to celebrate this exciting next step in the Commonwealth’s mission of sustainability and workforce development.” “This project will give people in West Louisville good jobs and new opportunities, and I’m excited to see this creative plan work.”
