Kentucky Police Find the Body of an Infant That “Fits” With a Baby That Has Been Lost for a Month and Arrest 5 People
The Kentucky State Police (KSP) say they have found a baby’s body that looks like 8-month-old Miya Tucker Rudd. Her family last saw her in May.
Police said the body was found inside the family’s home around 1:15 p.m. on Friday, June 14, but it had been hidden in a “covered” way.
Police say that after the scene of the crime is investigated, the baby will be taken by the Ohio County Coroner’s Office to the Kentucky Medical Examiners Office in Louisville.
The Kentucky State Police, the Ohio County Coroner’s Officer, and the Kentucky Medical Examiner Office are still looking into the case.
The child was first reported missing by Kentucky State Police on Thursday after the police said they searched the family’s home and checked on the child’s safety but found the baby missing.
The police said that the child’s family had not seen them since May.
Reynolds Station, Kentucky, is about 90 miles southwest of Louisville and is where the family lives.
When the girl’s mother, Tesla Tucker, 29, and father, Cage C. Rudd, 30, were caught at a motel in Owensboro on Wednesday, police had no idea where the baby was. That’s why they were checked on.
One of the drugs the parents had was fentanyl, according to a police spokesman who spoke to Fox News Digital.
Trooper Corey King of the Kentucky State Police told Fox News Digital on Friday, “We tried to talk to the parents, but they’re not very helpful with our investigation.”
Both of them were charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine over 2 grams), trafficking illegal drugs, trafficking marijuana, first-degree child abuse, abandoning a kid, as well as trafficking drugs and having drug paraphernalia.
While staying with Miya’s parents and grandparents, her granddad Ricky Smith is said to have used the house as a base for drug trafficking. During a search, many different types of drugs were found in the house.
He is being charged with drug crimes, child abuse, and putting a child in danger.
A warrant from October 2023 was found for Billie J. Smith, Miya’s grandma, in Daviess County, and she was arrested and charged with second-degree domestic violence assault on Friday, according to WFIE.
As cops went into Smith’s house, they said they saw Timothy Roach, 37, throw Suboxone that wasn’t prescribed under his car.
He was charged with first-degree prescription controlled drug, not in the right container and second-degree possession of a controlled substance. See WBKO for more information.
