Local Kitchens bringing Bay Area’s Koi Palace dim sum to Marin, Solano
Koi Palace, a trendsetter for Bay Area’s dim sum cuisine for nearly 30 years, is set to bring its dishes to Marin and Solano counties as well as other Local Kitchens locations, starting Friday.
The arrangement brings the 2024 James Beard Award nominee’s popular menu items such as “Bao Buns” and potstickers to the mini food haul chain’s 13 sites, including Mill Valley, Novato and Davis (serving Solano), Local Kitchens CEO Jon Goldsmith wrote in an email.
Local Kitchens provides a revenue-sharing model that allows chefs to scale their brands and reach more customers without the overhead of running their own brick-and-mortar establishments, the Business Journal reported in July.
In the past six months, the company has added menus for Yalla Falafel by New York City chef Einat “Queen of Falafel” Admony and Sweet Onion Burger by chef Alvin Cailan, creator of Eggslut and Los Angeles’ Amboy Quality Meats.
Brothers and founders Ronny and Willy Ng opened their first Koi Palace restaurant in Daly City in 1996. Their goal was to bring the cultural experience of Hong Kong’s famous fishing port, Lei Yue Men, to the United States by giving customers harbor-fresh Cantonese seafood, according to the website.
