Man Accused of Kidnapping 13-Year-Old Girl in Kenner Surrenders to Authorities
KENNER, LA. — Police say that a guy who is suspected of kidnapping and raping a teenage girl on September 3 has turned himself in and is now being held by the Kenner Police Department.
Police in Kansas City say they got a report of a 13-year-old girl who had been taken from the Veterans Heights neighborhood.
“That person who rapes a 13-year-old girl with a knife and then runs away is a coward,” said Kenner Police Chief Keith Conley.
Police in Kenner began looking for Diego Rodriguez-Salvador, 23, who they say kidnapped and raped a 13-year-old girl in Kenner on Tuesday night.
“Being a friend of the family member, he won her trust and got her into his car by saying he was going to the store.” She asked him about it when he wasn’t going in the right way. “That’s when he pulled the knife,” Conley said.
After that, he took her to his trailer on Kenner’s Malinda Court, where she says he raped her and then drove her home. The KPD said that police looked through Rodriguez-Salvador’s house but couldn’t find him.
The news breaks the heart of a close neighbor who is a father and lives in an area with a lot of kids.
“These kids hang out here all day.” “They play and run all night,” the neighbor said.
It is said by Conley that Rodriguez-Salvador is an illegal immigrant from Honduras who was friends with the victim’s brother. He says that he is like a ghost, even though he goes to barbershops in the area a lot.
“One of our databases doesn’t help us find them easily.” The last names were played with hyphens, and they’ll switch their names around. He said, “Once we get them in the database, none of them will be able to be identified.”
She was 91 years old when she died.
He feels bad about the fact that these crimes don’t always get reported.
“In that neighborhood, you have to wonder how many of those crimes are not reported.” Our goal has been to build trust and bonds with these groups so that they will report these crimes. “That’s when a group like the child advocate group will come in handy,” Conley said.
Promised to help the 13-year-old girl get justice.
“As a dad, it makes me sad, but as a police chief, it makes me mad.” We will make him pay for what he did. “He’ll be crying his eyes out in an interview room in no time,” said Conley.
Police in the KPD said Rodriguez-Salvador was wanted for second-degree kidnapping and second-degree rape.
Officials from the KPD told WGNO around 5:30 p.m. that Rodriguez-Salvador was arrested after turning himself in to police.
The girl is safe and with her mother, according to the Chesterfield police.
