It was a bad day for a brother and sister from southeast Virginia when cops said someone stole their money jar while they were selling lemonade.

This past week, the suspect was caught on camera stealing the kids’ whole day’s earnings outside of their home in Chesapeake, which is a city about 20 miles southeast of Virginia Beach.

Officer Leo C. Kosinsk of the Chesapeake Police Department, whose department is looking into the case, told USA TODAY that the theft happened on August 14 just before noon. He confirmed that before the robbery, a silver Toyota four-door hatchback pulled up next to the stand, and the suspect got out of the car.

Video footage shows the suspect walk up to the stand without a word and quickly grabbing the money jar.

Rebecca Caldwell, 10, told WAVY-TV that she and her brother Josh were working their stand when the suspect grabbed the jar of cash while she was pouring him a glass of lemonade.

“We have $40 already.” “Things were going well until the guy showed up,” the girl told the news provider. “He was nice.” He was just saying, “That’s cool that you guys are having a lemonade stand.” He then got pretty close, but I didn’t notice because I had my back to him.

According to Annetta and Josh Caldwell, the man stole money from the children’s business owners, who reported it to the police.
