Man Dies in Fiery Fresno County Crash, DUI Driver Collides With CHP Vehicle During Investigation
FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. – The California Highway Patrol is looking into a series of crashes that occurred on the same Fresno County road.
Just before 2 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to a crash on Kearny Boulevard just west of Fair Avenue.
Investigators said a 21-year-old male was heading west on Kearney when his Toyota Camry went off the road.
The car hit head-on with a tree and caught flames.
The man was unable to escape the car and was pronounced dead on the scene. It is unknown whether alcohol and/or drugs played a role in this crash.
As CHP officers were investigating the fatal incident, a man suspected of DUI collided with one of their patrol cars.
No officers were injured and were outside the vehicle at the time of the collision.
The motorist sustained minor injuries and will be placed in Fresno County Jail on DUI charges.
