In Tarzana, California, a man looked happy after a firemen saved his cat from his burning house. Any pet owner can relate to the sad video of the man and his cat getting back together. The man was so relieved that the worst had not occurred that he broke down in tears of happiness. His pet had been saved.
The man and his family got back to their house on July 22 to find that it was on fire. They had only lived there for two months.
Fox 11 says that people several blocks away could see the fire. The man asked the firefighters to save one important thing: Cheetah, his 14-year-old cat. The family was going to lose everything, but they were working hard to put out the fire.
He had owned Cheetah since he got it as a kitten for his daughter. Being able to say that she was family is not enough.
I told her she was my daughter’s cat. We adopted her together, but I had to keep her after I got divorced. He told the news provider, “I promised my daughter I would take care of her.”
Rescuers were finally able to bring him and Cheetah back together, as seen in a video shared by ABC 7 LA. It was clear that the man was emotional. One thing—the most important thing—had made it through all the loss.
He told NBC 4 that they stopped him when he tried to run in.
His eyes filled with tears, and he fell to his knees and used a paper bowl and water to wash his cat. Fox 11 says the cat was finally taken to a veterinarian’s emergency room. Later, it was found that she had breathed in smoke and had to be watched for 24 hours after the fire. The man told NBC 4 that Cheetah is now at his house and taking it easy.
The fire was put out in 19 minutes, which was great. Firefighters said the fire had spread to a room and the roof of the house. Thankfully, no one else was hurt. Fox 11 says that the official cause of the fire has not been found yet, and no charges have been brought against anyone.
No cat owner would doubt how much the man loves his cat. Another way to say it is “like losing your kid,” as the man told Fox 11. The same thing. “She’s my child,” he said. He also told the group that saved his pet how thankful he was. “Thank you to the fire department,” he said finally.
