Massachusetts Man Reported Missing While Vacationing in South Carolina
Authorities say a guy from Massachusetts who was on vacation with his family in South Carolina has not been seen since Friday and is in danger.
His family says that Stanley Kotowski, 60, was last seen leaving their holiday home on Hilton Head Island on Friday morning. As per the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, he is thought to be barefoot and did not take any personal things like his phone or wallet.
His family told WJCL, an ABC station in Savannah, Georgia, that Kotowski has been having trouble with anxiety lately.
“For about a month, he couldn’t sleep at all.” “This is pretty much brand-new,” Jackie Kotowski, his wife, told WJCL. The man does not have dementia. As the days went on, his nervousness got worse and worse. He began to feel suspicious and thought someone was following him.
Zak Kotowski, his son, told WJCL that his dad is fine in other ways.
“He’s strong and athletic.” Zak Kotowski told the station, “He could get a few towns over, even when he was drunk and without shoes.”
Master Sergeant Daniel Allen of the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office says Kotowski’s family reported him missing about two hours after the last time they saw him. Allen said that he was marked as dangerous because of his mental state, the length of time he has been missing, and the fact that he was last seen on a Ring camera without shoes on.
Kotowski was still being looked for by the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday.
The sheriff’s office said that K9s, planes, drones, boats, and foot patrol have all been used in the search. Allen said that there have been some tips, but none of them have worked out.
“Unfortunately with all the efforts that they’ve been putting out, from literally air, land and water, we have not made contact with him at this point,” he told ABC News on Tuesday.
The sheriff’s office said that Kotowski’s information was put into national databases and sent to all the departments in the state.
His family begged for help and said they would not leave Hilton Head Island without him.
Kim Kotowski told WJCL, “We just want him to come home.” “We need help from anyone who can help us find him.”
“We love you,” Zak Kotowski wrote to his dad as well. We just want you to go home.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office shared a video from a Ring camera that shows Kotowski’s last known outfit: a gray Coors Light T-shirt, dark shorts, and no shoes. He has short brown hair, brown eyes, and a thick Boston accent. He is about 6 feet tall and weighs about 200 pounds.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office has asked people to look at their cams and their yards for any signs of Kotowski. The sheriff’s office can be reached at 843-524-2777 if you know anything.
