‘Miracle Baby’s’ Grandmother Says the Baby’s Mother Ran Away With Them Before She Disappeared

Conswella Jack says she was home with her grandkids when Aaliyah Jack, her daughter, left with her two kids during a visit without telling anyone.

On July 9, a 1-year-old boy was found alone on the side of the road. The body of the baby’s 4-year-old sibling was found the day before. Conswella is the boy’s grandma.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office says the “miracle baby” was saved from a Louisiana highway by a trucker the same day that the body of his bigger brother was found in Calcasieu Parish, La.

There is still no word on what killed the 4-year-old. Police say that Aaliyah, who is 25 years old, was arrested on a charge of failing to report a missing kid. She has not been charged with the death of the 4-year-old, though.

According to Conswella, who spoke to the Acadiana Advocate, the events started last weekend when Aaliyah went to Lafayette, Louisiana, to meet her kids.

Conswella told the news outlet that the kids were in her care even though Aaliyah was legally the parent of the kids. She also said that Aaliyah was having money problems.

The source said that Aaliyah reportedly took her kids without telling her mother on Saturday after meeting them. Conswella said that the worried grandmother tried to call Aaliyah but that all she did was text her back.

According to Conswella, she sent her a picture of a car in some trees that looked like it had been wrecked. “I didn’t understand, so I called her over and over but couldn’t get through.”

It was reported that a child’s body was found at a rest stop on Monday, July 8. The sheriff’s office said in a statement at the time.

Aaliyah, the boy’s mother, and his 1-year-old brother or sister were last seen with the 4-year-old. Police say that Aaliyah was later caught in Mississippi, but the 1-year-old was not with her.

A statement from the police says that when they got a call on Tuesday about a 1-year-old baby found in a ditch next to a highway, they quickly realized that the baby was the dead boy’s brother.

Conswella told the Acadiana Advocate that she is having a hard time dealing with the sadness of losing one grandchild and the happiness of finding the other safe.

Conswella told the Acadiana Advocate, “I was so glad to hear the baby lived, but I’m also so sad that one is now gone.”

After the child was saved, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Gary “Stitch” Guillory called a news conference and called the child the “miracle baby.”

The man told the Associated Press, “We looked at this 1-year-old as our miracle baby because he was still alive… unbelievable.”

He also said, “This kid was out in the weather for two days on the side of the highway.” “Thank God that truck driver saw him.”

It wasn’t clear right away if Aaliyah had made a plea or hired a lawyer to speak for her.
