Moderate 3.6 Magnitude Earthquake Reported in the United States

The United States Geological Survey detected a 3.6-magnitude earthquake that occurred near California on Friday, January 3.
Petrolia was the epicentre of the 3.6-kilometer-deep (2.3-mile) earthquake. At the time of publication, the USGS had received no reports of persons having felt the earthquake.
Nearly three hours after the main earthquake, Petrolia also felt an aftershock of 3.2 magnitude on Friday.
Two days prior to the Petrolia earthquake, on Wednesday, January 1, a 4.7-magnitude earthquake was recorded in California, as per the US Geological Survey.
The epicenter of the earthquake was about 1.1 kilometers (almost 0.7 miles) below Cobb. As of the publication date, the USGS has received 837 reports of earthquake sensations.
The USGS reported an earthquake near Alaska on Monday, December 30, with a magnitude of 3.3; days later, on December 31, the Cobb earthquake occurred. The earthquake’s epicenter was 39.5 kilometers (about 25 miles) below the surface in Nikolski.
Earthquake Strikes Again in Parts of New York State
The United States Geological Survey reported a 3.3-magnitude earthquake near California on Monday, and hours later, an earthquake of the same magnitude hit Alaska. The epicenter of the 3.4-kilometer-deep (2.1-mile) earthquake was located in Fort Bidwell.
Following a 6.7-magnitude earthquake that was detected on the Kuril Islands on December 27, the United States Geological Survey announced that the Fort Bidwell earthquake occurred days later.
At a depth of 162.6 kilometers, the earthquake’s epicenter was located, approximately 101 miles away.
