Motorcycle Accident on I-295 Claims Life of 41-year-old Texas Man, Injures Colorado Passenger

A 41-year-old Texas man died Saturday morning in a motorbike accident on Interstate 295 in Henrico County.

Joshua Ballard, of Bowie, Texas, died at a local hospital after the tragedy. His passenger, a 26-year-old lady from Fountain, Colorado, who has not been identified, is receiving treatment for significant but non-life-threatening injuries.

The single-vehicle incident happened at 11:15 a.m., about 0.1 mile north of Airport Drive.

The collision occurred on a 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by Ballard. Preliminary investigations suggest that the motorcycle collided with an uncovered lip between the lanes caused by recent repaving and resurfacing work.

The impact threw both Ballard and his passenger from the motorcycle.

Both were wearing helmets when the accident occurred.

Virginia State Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding this collision.
