New Alert: Burglars Steal Florida Woman’s Entire Driveway in Bizarre Scam!

0

CheapNailsalonsnearmeIn a bizarre and unprecedented incident, a Florida woman, Amanda Brochu, discovered that her entire driveway had been stolen. This unusual theft occurred amidst her efforts to sell her house, which included various renovations. The ordeal began when Brochu noticed several contractors measuring her driveway over days.

One of these contractors revealed that a man, identifying himself as “Andre”, had falsely claimed to be the landlord and had contracted them for a driveway replacement. However, when asked for proof of ownership, “Andre” ceased all communication.

The situation took a surreal turn when Brochu returned home one day to find her driveway completely removed. It was later uncovered that she and the contractor who removed the driveway were victims of an overpayment scam.

This scam involved the scammer posing as the homeowner, arranging for work on the property, and then sending a check for more than the quoted amount. When the contractor refunded the excess, the initial check would bounce, leaving the contractor unpaid and out of pocket. While the scammer remains at large, there’s a silver lining for Brochu.

The theft of an entire driveway is not only a novel crime but also a stark reminder of the lengths to which scammers will go. It underscores the need for heightened vigilance in real estate transactions and home renovations, especially in cases where the property is listed for sale.
