New York Man Arrested for Threatening Weapon of Mass Destruction at Charleston Airport
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — At the Charleston International Airport on Saturday, a guy from New York who called himself an internet “troll” was arrested for telling police he “had a bomb and a strap” on him. A gun is called a “strap” in slang.
Thomas Anthony Brienza, 20, of Centereach, New York, was charged with having a weapon of mass destruction or threatening to use one. Online jail records show this.
According to the story, Brienza went up to the airport police and told them he didn’t want any trouble but that he had a bomb and a gun. He is said to have also told cops that he had fentanyl in his parked car.
According to the report, Brienza walked up to the police officers while wearing glasses that had a recording device built into them.
Investigators asked Brienza if he was recording the event on his glasses. He replied that he was making videos for his YouTube account and that he “didn’t have a bomb,” according to the report.
After being searched and put in handcuffs, Brienza was held until more questions could be asked. The report says that no guns were found.
When cops asked Brienza about it, he said he has a TikTok account and a YouTube channel where he pranks police officers, gas station workers, and other people he meets.
The car Brienza said had fentanyl in it was also checked by police. Police said they didn’t find any drugs or guns in the car.
