According to law enforcement, a man who dressed like a dentist in New Jersey was apprehended and charged with sexually assaulting a female patient who believed him to be legitimate.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office reported that on Monday, police were summoned to an office building located on Route 46 in Fairfield. During the conversation, a woman disclosed that she had been sexually assaulted by a man she had contacted to schedule a dental procedure.

Jonathan Colombo, a 31-year-old resident of Orange Township, was subsequently identified. According to law enforcement, Colombo utilized the Instagram handles “newyoudental” and “newyousmiles” to advertise himself as a dentist on social media.

The victim informed the police that she had observed Colombo’s advertisements online, in which he advertised the availability of dental veneers at a reduced price. According to the prosecutor’s office, the two engaged in a conversation via social media and ultimately reached an agreement on the price of the veneers. She then scheduled a meeting with him at the office in Fairfield on Oct. 14.

The victim was sexually assaulted by Colombo, according to prosecutors, after the procedure was completed.

Colombo was accused of practicing dentistry without a license. It was not immediately apparent which accusations, if any, he would be subjected to in relation to the alleged sexual assault. Attorney information for Colombo was unavailable.

An investigation is currently underway. The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office is requesting that anyone with information regarding these or similar allegations contact them at 1-877-847-7432.
