Not Found the American Kid Who Got Off the Cruise Ship in Germany Was Found Safe in a City More Than 100 Miles Away
He was last seen three days after he got off of the Caribbean Princess cruise ship in a German port. On Saturday, police and a family member said the boy was found safe.
Police say Aydin Brown and his grandmother were on the trip, but they got off after the ship’s planned stop at Rostock-Warnemünde on Thursday morning.
In a statement, Rostock police said the teen was found in Brandenburg, which is about 120 miles south of the port, around 10 p.m. Saturday.
“Intensive investigations and the analysis of technical data led the Rostock criminal police to track down the youth, who had been staying near Potsdam,” the city of Rostock said.
The city of Potsdam is next to the state of Brandenburg. They are both west of Berlin. Late Saturday night, a family member of Brown’s gave the first word that the teen had been found safe.
The police said that Brown was with a 19-year-old man that he had set up to meet. In their statement, Rostock police said, “There is no evidence of a crime.”
As their search went on earlier Saturday, state and local police released three more pictures of Brown. In two of the pictures taken from security video, there was an unknown guy who looked like he was talking to Brown. Rostock police had said earlier that they wanted to identify him while they looked for the missing teen.
In a statement released late Saturday night, Princess Cruises said that Brown had been reunited with his family and thanked the German government for finding the teen.
The cruise line said in a statement Saturday, “We are thrilled that Aydin Brown has been found safe and sound.” “We want the German government to know how much we appreciate how quickly they responded and worked hard to find Aydin after he got off the ship in Warnemunde last Thursday morning.”
Princess Cruises said on Friday that Brown’s grandmother left the ship Thursday night, late into the first hours of the search for Brown. His mother was then flown to Germany by the company.
CruiseMapper, a website that tracks cruise ships, says that the 12-day trip goes through the Baltic Sea and stops in places like Copenhagen, Denmark, and Stockholm, Sweden. The site says the round-trip tour left from Southampton, England, on June 30 and was set to return on July 12.
