Pacific Northwest Braces for Rain, Snow, and Strong Winds as New Weather Front Approaches
The Pacific Northwest should expect a combination of rain and snow as weather patterns alter in the coming days, according to the National Weather Service in Portland.
Today, diminishing showers will continue across the region, with snow forecast in the Cascades’ upper altitudes, where snow levels are near 4,000 feet.
An impending front will bring gusty southerly winds and showers by Monday morning, with gusts of up to 50 mph along the coast and up to 60 mph in far northern locations.
While today’s storms are forecast to subside, they will return in force tomorrow, bringing another bout of rain that could persist until Tuesday. Snow levels will fall to roughly 3,500 feet, with accumulations of 2 to 6 inches in the mountains.
After a small respite in the middle of the week, the region should brace itself for a rainy finish to the week, with the risk of very wet conditions by next weekend.
