Police Arrested a Moving Truck Driver After a Chase from Dundee to Ohio!
CNS News–On a tense Thursday evening, a routine traffic stop in Dundee, Michigan, spiraled into a high-octane chase that crossed state lines, culminating in the dramatic arrest of a 26-year-old Milan man in Ohio. The incident, which unfolded on the night of the chase, began innocuously when Dundee Police Officer Joseph Ashley attempted to pull over a 2019 Chevrolet U-Haul for a traffic violation at precisely 9 p.m.
The driver’s decision to flee, rather than comply, set the stage for an intense pursuit. After a brief detour into the parking lot of the American Inn & Suites Hotel on Outer Drive near Tecumseh Street, the suspect dashed back onto the road, blatantly ignoring the officer’s commands.
The chase quickly escalated as the U-Haul barreled south on Outer Drive, west on Plank Street, and then south again on Carney Drive, pushing speeds over 45 mph through Dundee’s quiet streets. The pursuit didn’t end at the village’s limits. The fleeing vehicle, relentless in its escape, ventured into Lenawee County, turning south on Bucholtz Highway towards Deerfield.
In a desperate bid to evade capture, the suspect weaved through River Street, Rodesiler Highway, and onto County Line Highway, eventually hitting the faster expanses of U.S. 223 and U.S. 23. Here, the U-Haul’s speedometer needle flirted with 72 mph, a reckless pace that underscored the suspect’s determination to escape.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and Michigan State Police, drawn into the fray, lent their support to the Dundee Police. In a strategic move, the sheriff’s office deployed tire-deflation devices on southbound U.S. 23 at Sterns Road. Despite their efforts, the suspect managed to continue, albeit with diminished capability, into Ohio, where he exited at Alexis Road in Sylvania.
In a final act of desperation, the suspect abandoned the vehicle at the intersection with Waterford Place, leaving behind not just the U-Haul but also a female passenger. The subsequent search of the vehicle unveiled suspected illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia, adding another layer to the suspect’s already complicated legal situation.
The collective efforts of Ohio’s law enforcement, including the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Sylvania Police, and Toledo Police, were instrumental in setting up a perimeter that eventually led to the suspect’s arrest. The collaborative operation underscored the seamless inter-agency cooperation that transcends state lines.
Post-arrest, it was revealed that the suspect’s disregard for the law was not limited to the night’s events. He was wanted on felony warrants in Michigan, adding gravity to his already precarious legal standing. Lodged at the Lucas County Jail in Toledo, the suspect now awaits the authorization of felony charges by the Monroe County Prosecutor’s Office and the possibility of extradition back to Michigan.
