Police in Three States Collaborate for 48-Hour Operation on I-81 This Week
This week, troopers from numerous states are participating in a traffic enforcement operation on I-81.
On September 19 and 20, Operation DISS-rupt will be carried out along the I-81 corridor in Virginia, Tennessee, and West Virginia.
Virginia State Police (VSP) will collaborate with the Tennessee Highway Patrol and West Virginia State Police for the 48-hour enforcement operation.
According to VSP, the goal of Operation DISS-rupt is to achieve zero traffic fatalities during the enforcement period while also reducing the total number of I-81 collisions by 10% during the calendar year.
During Operation DISS-rupt, police will also provide traffic safety information to the general population.
DISS-rupt stands for distracted and impaired driving, speed compliance, and seat belt safety.
