Pregnant Wife Attempted to Save Her Husband, Who Had Been Shot, While Protecting Herself and Her Children. He Died in Her Arms: Family
Authorities in Texas are looking into the death of a man who was shot while attempting to chase suspected vandals and died in his wife’s arms.
Osvaldo Casas, 37, was pronounced dead by medical officials after attempting to confront vandalism perpetrators near his Houston, Texas, house over the weekend, according to ABC 13, FOX 26, and KHOU 11.
Police did not reveal his identity, but news outlets and a GoFundMe page set up by his family identified him as the victim of the Saturday, August 10 shooting.
The victim’s wife, who is due to give birth next month, attempted to save his life and performed CPR before first responders arrived, according to the Houston Police Department.
Someone allegedly destroyed Casas’ car the night before, flinging eggs and flour before fleeing the scene in a black pickup, according to reports from Houston police.
According to authorities, neighbors noticed a similar car early Saturday morning and alerted Casas, causing him to step outside and look around.
According to authorities, shortly after he went down the street hunting for the suspected vandals, his family and neighbors heard gunshots. According to authorities, they spotted Casas bleeding as he ran back to his home before collapsing.
When officers came, his wife was administering CPR to save his life, according to HPD.
Casas’ mother, Blanca Aguirre, told KHOU 11, “She tried to give him CPR, and he died in her hands.”
“I did it for maybe like 10 minutes until the police arrived, and they took over,” the victim’s wife Judith Molina told FOX 26. “But by that time, I knew he was gone. “I knew he’d gone.”
In the fundraising put up to help with his burial expenses, Molina stated that he died “while bravely protecting our family” and that he leaves behind his 16-year-old and 8-year-old daughters.
“Osvaldo was overjoyed at the thought of meeting his baby boy and becoming a father to a son,” she said in the fundraising letter, adding that he “had a special passion for the Dallas Cowboys.”
