A woman has been charged with killing a 6-week-old baby and is being sought the death sentence.
Police were called to the 6000 block of Walnut Street in June to say that a baby had fallen out of a cot. Nicole Virzi, 29, of San Diego, Calif., was watching the baby.
The baby was taken to UPMC Children’s Hospital, but it died there from heavy brain bleeding and a broken head. A doctor told them that the injuries were not normal or happened by chance.
On Thursday, the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office sent a notice to the court that they planned to seek the death sentence.
The Allegheny County Jail is where Virzi is being held.
