CNS News– David Shroitman, a 27-year-old man from Somerville, New Jersey, has been charged with the murder of Maryrose Fealey, a former classmate whom he allegedly stabbed approximately 37 times. The tragic incident occurred on January 30th, prompting an investigation by the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office.
Maryrose Fealey, aged 27, was a graduate of Rutgers Business School and had been actively involved in advocacy work for individuals struggling with drug addiction. Described as supportive and compassionate by her peers, Fealey’s untimely death has left her community in shock and mourning. The suspect, Shroitman, and the victim were acquainted from their time together at Somerville High School, graduating in 2014.
The gruesome crime unfolded when Fealey returned home from a business engagement in Bridgewater, only to be fatally attacked outside her residence on North Bridge Street in Somerville. Law enforcement officials responded to a 911 call reporting an unresponsive woman, discovering Fealey with multiple stab wounds. Despite efforts to save her, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police obtained critical evidence, including dashcam footage showing a man matching Shroitman’s description near the victim’s home on the night of the murder. Subsequent surveillance footage and the discovery of incriminating items in Shroitman’s possession, such as a white garbage bag, black gaiter, and duct tape, further implicated him in the crime.

During a search of Shroitman’s residence, detectives uncovered a manifesto detailing a chilling plan for the homicide, along with traces of blood detected by luminol spray. Despite the mounting evidence, Shroitman pleaded not guilty through his public defender during his initial court appearance.
The motive behind Fealey’s brutal murder remains undisclosed, though authorities have confirmed a prior connection between the victim and the accused. As the investigation continues, Shroitman awaits further legal proceedings, including a detention hearing scheduled before Superior Court Judge Jonathan Romankow.
