Sister of Dancer Found Dead Said His Partner Didn’t Look for Him and Kept Eating After He Stopped Coming Home
Deundray Cottrell, 31, went missing on July 4 while visiting his sister and her family in Birmingham, Alabama, with Julian Morris, the guy he dates and works with.
Angelica Harris, Cottrell’s sister, told 11 Alive that her brother was over for the holiday and went inside around 9 p.m. to check on their dog after the fireworks started. One hour later, Morris, 31, told her that Cottrell had jumped out of a window in the house and left, she told the news outlet. This was the last time she saw her brother.
Harris said she and her family started looking for her brother right away, but she said Morris stayed at her house and ate.
Haris said, “Everyone was looking, and he was eating.” Harris asked Morris to leave after Cottrell went missing, she told 11 Alive. Since then, no one has seen or heard from him.
This is what the Birmingham Police Department says: Morris was Cottrell’s boyfriend when he went missing. The Instagram page for the business says that Cottrell, Morris, and DeEric Garnell were all part of a dance group in Atlanta called Skiiboyz Entertainment. Cottrell had lived there for ten years.
Cottrell’s body was found in a shed two days after he went missing. The police have said that he was killed and have named Morris as a person of interest in the case. The reason Cottrell died has not been made public.
A press statement says that police are still trying to find Morris so that they can question him. However, he has not been named a suspect or charged.
In her search for her brother, Harris told AL.com that she found a security video that showed her brother in the area that night.
Harris told the news source, “It looked like he was looking for safety.” “He had to run for his life.”
It’s not clear if anyone else was seen on the video, but the Birmingham Police Department has confirmed that the video exists. The police also said that some of Cottrell’s clothes were found during the check.
In an Instagram post, Garnell called Cottrell a “beautiful angel.” Garnell also said, “You taught me things I never learned as a child that pushed me to become a better man.” We were the Yin and Yang of each other. I brought out the crazy, energetic spirit, and your cool, stylish vibes made me feel good. We saw each other change from cute little boys to beautiful men. We stood strong for 14 years”
The people of Birmingham have been asked to help the police find Morris. Someone told them he was black, 5 feet 6 inches tall, and weighed 160 pounds.
