The District of Columbia, Alaska, Guam, the 48 contiguous states, and the U.S. Virgin Islands will all get more SNAP payments. But in Hawaii, Food Stamps will go down for the second year in a run.
The thing is, on October 1, 2024, the highest amounts will change. That means the SNAP payouts for September will stay the same. Let’s look at how much Food Stamps cost more each year.
SNAP benefits increase in the 48 contiguous States
Some people who get Food Stamps may be excited about the news that they will be getting more money. But it might not be as good as expected because payments will only go up by one dollar a month. Here are the highest amounts and biggest boosts for each month and each year.
8 members: $1,756 = 5-dollar boost
7 members: $1,536 = 4-dollar boost
6 members: $1,390 = 4-dollar boost
5 members: $1,158 = 3-dollar boost
4 members: $975 = 2-dollar boost
3 members: $768 = 2-dollar boost
2 members: $536 = 1-dollar boost
1:members: $292 = 1-dollar boost
Each additional person: $220
This means that if you get the most from SNAP, you will get a maximum boost worth $60 per year. If you are 7 or 6, the most you will get each year is $48. A family of five can get an extra $36 a year. Up to $24 if you are 4 or 3. People or families of two can get an extra twelve dollars a year.
SNAP payments will start in October 2025, after the 2025 COLA
