Detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office are investigating the deadly shooting of a teenager inside a Wilton Manors apartment building on Monday afternoon.
Officers from the Wilton Manors and Fort Lauderdale police departments, as well as Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue paramedics, arrived at the apartment complex at 403 NW 25th Street shortly after 2:30 p.m. following a complaint of a shooting, according to deputies.
According to the sheriff’s office, the victim, 16-year-old Christopher Granados, was shot inside a multi-family residential unit, and the investigation has been turned over to them.
Granados was taken to the hospital by paramedics and later pronounced dead, according to authorities.
The sheriff’s office stated that the “shooting was contained to the residence and there was no threat to the community.” The agency did not respond to a follow-up question about clarifying that remark.
