Texas Father Accused of Attempting to Kill 4-month-old Infant by Feeding Gasoline: Police Report
A terrible and upsetting thing happened in Paris, Texas. A father is being charged with attempted capital murder for giving gasoline to his 4-month-old child to drink. Edgar James Bridgeman, who is 24 years old, was named the suspect by the Paris Police Department.
The call came in on Saturday from the 1300 block of Pine Bluff Street. Paris Emergency Services was already there when the cops arrived. After looking into it, police found that Bridgemon had allegedly given his baby gasoline to hurt the child.
When cops tried to talk to Bridgemon, he ran away on foot. He was caught and taken into arrest after a short chase. Reports say Bridgemon admitted that he did give his child the gasoline to try to kill the baby.
Bridgeman was caught and charged with trying to kill someone with a lethal weapon. He is also being charged with avoiding arrest. His bond was set at $255,000 by the judge, with $250,000 set aside for the attempted capital murder charge and $5,000 set aside for breaking the law.
The baby was taken right away by emergency services to the Paris Regional Medical Center. After that, the child was taken to a hospital in the Dallas-Fort Worth area to get more care.
