Texas Man Arrested for Impersonating CPS Worker to Access Children: Sheriff’s Office

Deputies say that a guy in Texas is in jail after being accused of pretending to be a Child Protective Services worker to get to children.

He is 56 years old and has been charged with three counts of pretending to be a public worker and one count of sexual assault. He has a $300,000 bond to stay in the Hopkins County Jail.

On June 18, the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office got a report about a man who was pretending to be a CPS worker. The man reportedly told the child’s parents that he needed to talk to the child and then “gained access to the child.”

The child and their parents were able to describe the attacker and his car to the police.

During the investigation, the sheriff’s office learned that a similar event took place in Sulphur Springs, Texas, in November. They also learned that the suspect and car in that case were the same as the ones in Lamar County.

According to the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office, Miller was named as the suspect on June 25. He was then given an arrest warrant and his home and car were searched.

Detectives found things from Miller’s car that matched what the Lamar County victim said when they carried out the search order. Miller is also said to have been linked to the event in Sulphur Springs by evidence found in his car.

The police arrested Miller and took him to the Franklin County Jail.

The government told people to remember that CPS workers have valid credentials and will show proof of those credentials before talking to them.

Those who have talked to Miller and heard him say he worked for CPS should call their local cops. Miller has brown and white hair and a white beard. He is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs about 240 pounds. He might have had a red case on him with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice’s name on it.

Deputy Scott Cass of Lamar County said in a statement, “This investigation is the perfect example of how working together between agencies helps solve a case.” “With this effort, another criminal has been taken off our streets and out of our neighborhoods.”
