In Texas, nine dogs were found in cages outside in the heat. Police are now looking into a serious case of animal abuse. Since then, one dog has died.

The dogs that made it out alive are getting better at the Giddings Animal Shelter outside of Austin.

“It was sad,” Ryan Phipps, Chief of Police for Manor, told FOX 7 Austin. “It was a sad situation.”

Manor Police told FOX 7 Austin that they found the dogs in 104-degree weather with a 108-degree heat factor. The dogs were kept in cages in the suspect’s garden and weren’t given any food or water.

When they were found, two of the dogs were wearing jackets. The dogs’ jackets had been the same since last winter, according to their neighbors.

The ninth dog that was not cared for died at a nearby animal hospital.

Officers love animals, and when they have to deal with that, they see animals in pain. It’s a sad situation, Police Chief Phipps told FOX 7 Austin.

Eeyeisha Young, who owned the dogs, was arrested for leaving them outside.
