There Was a Death at a Texas Lake During a Crossfit Games Swimming Event
FORT WORTH, Texas — Somebody from the CrossFit Games died Thursday morning while taking part in a swimming event on a lake in Texas.
At a news meeting, CrossFit CEO Don Faul said that the death of one of their athletes had left them “deeply saddened.” He also said that the company was working with the police to look into the death.
Around 8 a.m., the Fort Worth Fire Department was called to help the cops because “there was a participant in the water that was down and hadn’t been seen in some point in time.”
During the search and rescue, they were not at the scene when the first call came in, he said. After about an hour, the athlete’s body was found, he said.
Faul said that CrossFit did have safety staff at the event.
Faul talked about how CrossFit is like a family. Faul said, “During this terrible time, we’re doing everything we can to help the family and our community.”
A police spokesman said that the athlete’s name would not be released at this time.
