OAKLAND, Wis. – Early Saturday morning, authorities in Wisconsin reported two Minnesota residents killed and one injured in a single-vehicle incident.

A report from the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office states that deputies arrived at 2:01 a.m. following OnStar’s alert of a crash close to 28624 East Bass Lake Road in Oakland Township.

Officials on the site report that before it collided with a tree, one vehicle carrying three occupants drove 120 feet off the road.

Three persons were inside the car at the time of the crash: Layne W. Leitner, 25-year-old Bloomington, Minnesota, and one of the passengers, 34-year-old Kyle R. Orloske from White Bear Lake, Minnesota, all of whom were declared dead at the site.

According to deputies, the other passenger was discovered trapped within the car and, following extrication, was transported to a hospital using Air Care.

According to the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office, drinking is thought to have contributed to the crash; an inquiry into the event is still under progress.
