The pickup and trailer were stopped on the wrong side of the road, facing the traffic. The hazard lights were on for both cars. “Being worried that the driver was hurt or not awake, the deputy stopped and walked to the truck,” the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office says in a statement.

The deputy then tried to wake up the driver, who looked like he was reaching for something in the center console when he woke up. The deputy then told the driver and passenger to get out of the pickup. As they did so, “a small bag of white crystalline substance” was seen lying next to the driver.

This led to the finding of a large fixed-blade knife, a loaded. 45 caliber pistol, a loaded magazine, and extra ammunition hidden near the driver’s seat.

Police say the car and trailer also had a lot of crystal meth, 500 pills that were thought to be fentanyl, and several bags of what they thought was fentanyl powder.

The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office says it has found 244.5 grams of what they think is fentanyl and 92.8 grams of what they think is methamphetamine.

The driver has been named Kayne Enyeart, 61, of Alaska. He seems to have been convicted of a crime before. Enyeart seems to live in Wasilla, Alaska, and a police report shows that he was arrested in December 2017 on suspicion of DUI and fighting arrest.

The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office arrested Enyeart on Sunday and booked him on eight felonies, including being a felon in possession of a gun, carrying a loaded gun in a vehicle, being a felon in possession of ammunition, having drugs for sale, transporting drugs for sale, having illegal drugs and a loaded gun, having a controlled substance for sale, and transporting a controlled substance.

Deanna Welsh, 52, also from Alaska, was named as his passenger. She was given a ticket and let go on charges of having and transporting drugs for sale.

“We are proud of the work our patrol deputies do and can’t wait for our drug unit to start up this month,” the sheriff’s office says in a statement.
