U.S. Social Security Administration Confirms COLA Increases and Payments Up to $5,108 for Seniors in 2025

0

The United States Government, through the Social Security Administration (SSA), has announced that American seniors would begin receiving COLA increases and new maximum payout amounts in 2025.

Only SSI recipients will receive the 2025 COLA rise in December 2024. However, the remaining recipients will have to wait until January 2025 to receive their monthly payout with the boost.

$5,108 Payment for Social Security – Eligibility

To be eligible for a Social Security benefit of $5,108 in 2025, you must meet four conditions. Without achieving all of these conditions, you will be ineligible.

  • Workers must have jobs that pay enough payroll taxes to the Social Security Administration.
  • Employees must have earned the taxable limit for 35 years ($176,100 in 2025, up from $168,600 in 2024).
  • A worker should have worked for at least 35 years.
  • The age to file for SSA retirement benefit payments and get $5,108 is 70.

If you have already applied for Social Security and did not meet all of these requirements, you are ineligible. High earners who want to get the greatest amount in 2025 can wait until they have satisfied all of the requirements before applying for retirement benefits.

Payments for Social Security in 2025 total $5,108

Not only has the Social Security Administration announced the 2025 COLA. A fresh and revised payment schedule is also available. The initial payment of up to $5,108 will not be received until January 2025.

Social Security’s payments to retirees are slated for January 3, January 8, January 15, and January 22. Only retired workers are eligible for the greatest benefit payouts. Keep in mind that SSDI claimants must apply for disability insurance benefits before reaching the earliest filing age of 62.

This significantly reduces their payment amount. The largest SSDI payout in 2024 is $3,822, with retirees receiving up to $4,873. Some SSDI and retirement recipients may need to apply for SSI due to their low income.
