Unlocking SSI Benefits: How to Receive Up to $1,450 Monthly for Married Couples in 2025
Anyone can find themselves without enough money to get by. The Federal Government funds the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefit program for low-income and resourceful Americans who fulfill one of the three major qualifications.
These monthly payments will go to people who are disabled, blind, or over the age of 65. As a result, a modest income and limited resources are insufficient.
The 2025 Cola Rise Announced by Social Security Will Result in Increased SSI Payouts
With the 2025 COLA rise, all Social Security and SSI recipients will receive a 2.5% boost. However, this increase will not take effect until January 2025 for retirees and SSDI recipients, and December 31, 2024 for Supplemental Security Income beneficiaries.
New maximum amounts for Supplemental Security Income following COLA:
Category | Maximum Amount |
Individuals | $967 |
Married Couples | $1,450 |
Essential Persons | $484 |
Keep in mind that the current amounts are $943, $1,415, and $472 until December 30, 2024. If you have a poor income, little or no resources, and are disabled, blind, or over the age of 65, you may be eligible for this benefit in 2025. Check further prerequisites.
SSI Extra Requirements and How to Apply
Aside from the previously stated requirements, you must be a US citizen or national. Some non-citizens may be eligible for Supplemental Security Income if they fall into one of the alien classifications established by DHS.
Remember that you must be a resident of one of the fifty states. If not, you could live in the Northern Mariana Islands or the District of Columbia. Citizens who are absent must additionally fulfill additional requirements.
SSI recipients are not permitted to remain absent from the 50 states, the Northern Mariana Islands, or the District of Columbia for a full calendar month or 30 consecutive days. If you are in prison or restricted, you will not be eligible. Other special conditions may apply, and filing is required.
