A woman has been indicted for murder related to the fatalities of three individuals over three days in Canada.
The Niagara Regional Police Service announced in a news release on Friday, October 4, that 30-year-old Sabrina Kauldhar was apprehended in connection with the fatalities of a lady and two men in Toronto, Niagara, and Hamilton.
The initial occurrence transpired in Toronto on October 1, when law enforcement went to a service call and discovered a woman in her sixties “deceased within a residence, exhibiting visible trauma to her body.”
The subsequent day, emergency services personnel attended to a disturbance report at John Allan Park in Niagara Falls. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male with severe injuries.
“Notwithstanding the medical intervention efforts by Niagara Emergency Medical Services and the Niagara Falls Fire Service, 47-year-old Lance Cunningham was declared deceased at the scene,” the release stated.
The third event transpired in Hamilton on October 3, when an individual was discovered lifeless in a parking lot, exhibiting substantial injuries indicative of a stabbing. The victim, identified as 77-year-old Mario Bilich, was sent to the hospital, where he subsequently succumbed to his injuries.
“Investigators established a connection between the Hamilton homicide and the recent murder in John Allen Park, Niagara Falls, concluding that the suspect’s description was consistent in both incidents,” the announcement stated. A further connection was established to the ongoing homicide investigation on October 1 in Toronto.
Authorities presume that Cunningham and Bilich, a retired educator, were randomly selected, although the Toronto victim was acquainted with the perpetrator.
Kauldhar was indicted with first-degree murder in the Hamilton case and second-degree murder in the Toronto and Niagara inquiries, according to the announcement. On October 4, during a press conference, Niagara Regional Police Chief Bill Fordy said that Kauldhar was apprehended at a motel in Burlington and had prior encounters with law enforcement. He stated that authorities were also attempting to identify a woman captured on CCTV purchasing garments that Kauldhar possessed at the time of her detention.
In an update released on October 5, law enforcement confirmed the identification of the mysterious female.
“By definition, I believe she qualifies as a serial killer,” Fordy stated to reporters during the news conference when inquired about the appropriateness of the label. “The presence of two or more offenses constitutes a fair observation, by definition.”
