Woman Critically Wounded in Stabbing During Fight in Chicago’s Pilsen Community

Chicago — On Friday evening, a woman was attacked and badly injured on popular Halsted Street in Pilsen.

At 7:15 p.m., a 35-year-old woman got into an argument with another woman and a guy near 23rd and Halsted Streets. The argument became physical when the man pulled out a sharp weapon and stabbed a woman, according to authorities.

The victim sustained one puncture wound to the abdomen and one to the arm. She was rushed to Stroger Hospital in Cook County in critical condition, according to authorities.

The stabbing occurred immediately outside the Pilsen migrant shelter at 2241 S. Halsted St., which is due to close on October 1.

Police did not immediately corroborate claims that the stabbing was linked to the shelter.

There were no arrests as of late Friday, and Belmont Area detectives were conducting an investigation.
