New Brownsville Anti-Climb Barriers from Texas National Guard Engineers Increase Local Security!
An operation called “Lone Star” is being run by Governor Greg Abbott, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), and the Texas National Guard. This effort is meant to keep the Texas border safe and stop people from smuggling goods across it. Over 488,500 illegal aliens and more than 37,300 criminals have been caught and charged since the program began.
Over 33,800 felony charges have also been filed. Also, more than 450 million fatal doses of fentanyl have been found. The operation has also made it easier for migrants to get to different places in the U.S. Over 12,500 migrants have been taken to Washington, D.C., since April 2022.
Since August 2022, over 27,300 migrants have been taken to New York City, and so on. Officials in Texas say that these steps are in response to what they see as a lack of border security by the Biden Administration. Governor Abbott recently talked on Fox News about Texas’s right to protect its border.
He talked about the state’s plan to use moving barriers in the water, but the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals said no to that idea. Abbott is ready to take this case to the US Supreme Court to defend Texas’s right to stop people from coming in illegally. Governor Abbott has also shown a video of the construction of the Texas border wall and promised that the project will get more money.
He thanked Senator Joan Huffman and Representative Jacey Jetton for getting the money that was needed. DPS Lt. Chris Olivarez also talked about the U.S. refugee process on Fox News, saying that he thinks it makes people more likely to come here illegally.
As part of efforts to keep the border safe, the Texas National Guard Engineers have put up new barriers that people can’t jump over in Brownsville. Smugglers and illegal aliens have also been caught as a result of the operation. One of the smugglers was from Austin, and the other was from Honduras.
