CNS News– Attorneys representing former President Donald Trump and his adult sons have formally requested a delay in enforcing the penalty imposed by a civil fraud case, amounting to $355 million, plus interest. The request was made on Tuesday, addressing Judge Arthur Engoron, who presided over the case.
Last week, Engoron issued a judgment against Trump, imposing a hefty fine and a three-year ban from conducting business in New York State. In addition to the financial penalties imposed on Trump, his sons Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. were ordered to pay $4 million each, with a two-year ban from New York’s business scene. Allen Weisselberg, the Chief Financial Officer of the Trump Organization, was fined $1 million.
The case, brought forth by the state of New York, alleged fraud committed by Trump, his co-defendants, and his organization over several years. The accusations centered around inflating property values to secure more favorable loan conditions. Judge Engoron ruled against them in September, leading to the recent judgment. Trump’s legal team argues that the New York Attorney General, Letitia James, is attempting to expedite the process unfairly, without following standard procedures.

In their letter to Judge Engoron, Trump’s attorneys request a 30-day stay on enforcement if he decides to enter James’ proposed judgment.
They emphasize that the presence of a court-appointed monitor mitigates any potential prejudice to the attorney general during this brief postponement, particularly given the substantial sum involved. Trump has expressed his intention to appeal the decision, indicating a protracted legal battle ahead.
