Step-by-Step Guide on Applying for the Latest DOLA Temporary Rental Assistance Grant
On Thursday, a new temporary assistant grant was introduced by the Department of Local Affairs.
This grant will offer $30 million in temporary rental assistance to Coloradans who are at risk of eviction or displacement or who meet income limits and other qualifying factors.

Colorado Rental Assistance: Eligibility Criteria and Application Process
Eligibility
Residents of Colorado need to fill out a pre-application form and fulfill the specific eligibility requirements:
- Reside in Colorado
- Make sure you have a current lease in Colorado.
- Your income should not exceed 80% of the median income for your county
- Facing the possibility of eviction for various reasons
- Having trouble keeping up with rent payments
- Getting a formal request for rent payment from the landlord
- Insufficient funds available to cover rental obligations
- Experiencing a major life event that has impacted their rent payment ability
Process for Applying
Those interested in obtaining the grant must fill out a pre-application form, which will be accessible from Feb. 15 to Feb. 20.
Officials from DOLA recommend that applicants provide a copy of a court summons at this stage, which can be obtained from your local court. Officials plan to initiate the pre-application process on the 15th of every month until grant funds are depleted.
Pre-applications will be chosen at random to ensure equitable distribution of resources. The temporary rental assistance grant funds need to be utilized by June 30, 2024, as per DOLA.
