A Woman from Georgia Stole Over $100,000 Worth of Merchandise from Target Stores Nationwide!

CNS NewsPolice in Cherokee County say that a woman is running a criminal ring that stole things from Target stores in several states. A Cherokee County grand jury has found her guilty. It says that Claudia Hornea was charged with two counts of breaking the Georgia Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act and one count of violating Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO).

Police say Hornea and a few other people stole from Target stores in Georgia, Texas, Alabama, and North Carolina between September 1 and October 17. The charge sheet said she stole from 24 Target shops in total. There were no names of her co-conspirators in the charge.

Officials say Hornea is suspected of taking goods from Target worth more than $100,000. She also stole TVs, clothes, video game accessories, an Apple Watch, toys, ink cartridges, and items for babies, according to the complaint. In court papers, it was said that Hornea and her criminal group stole from Target in the following ways:

  • Obtain a driver to drop off and stage during theft
  • Utilize children/teens and co-conspirators
  • Obtain a box or tote to conceal stolen items
  • Utilize a lookout to avoid law enforcement
  • Employ counter-surveillance techniques to prevent apprehension
  • Commit the crime of theft by shoplifting to support the enterprise
  • Resell stolen merchandise for profit
